ashcat collective
Content Creation, Branding, 2022
cultivating community and connectivity among skiers of all levels through skiing and the outdoors
Ashcat is a beginner terrain park at Winter Park Resort in Colorado. It’s where I first really felt comfortable to try anything in a terrain park in my 12+ years of skiing.
Ashcat Collective is a dynamic reflection of living. Breaking mental and physical barriers. Using skiing and the outdoors as a way to curate community and a sense of belonging and connectivity among skiers regardless of skill level.
The content that Ashcat Collective produces is showcased primarily through an Instagram page.
The page isn’t just for documenting a sick backflip, but also the time it took 20 tries to land a 180. No matter how good you are at skiing, it’s here to remind you of your roots and the people who’ve been supportive of your progress since day one.
One of my favorite parts of this brand is the amount of collaboration we foster with local photographers and videographers. On photoshoot days, it’s great to have a bunch of creatives with different perspectives and visions on capturing ski content. It’s also great to connect with other brands doing similar things for the skiing community on social media.
“COLLECTIVE”
col·lec·tive | /kəˈlektiv/
A group of individuals coming together for a shared purpose or goal. Implies a sense of unity, cooperation, and collaboration. Highlighting the combined effort of the group as a whole.
When ideating a name, I wanted it to be relevant to my initial target audience: my friends and Winter Park locals. Naming it after our beloved beginner terrain park just made sense. And the word collective brings a sense of camaraderie and belonging; something that can sometimes feel foreign in the park skiing scene.
The look and feel of the logos are simple, bold and approachable.
Colors! Taking right from photos in my camera roll, obviously. Why wouldn’t I want to channel the natural beauty of this place we get to work, live and play in everyday?
the camcorder edit.
All shot on April 8, 2024 at Winter Park Resort. Honestly one of my favorite edits from this season. A good friend of mine let me borrow a camcorder from the 90s, complete with a fisheye lens. This (and the amazing talent everyone has) got the attention of one of my favorite ski video production companies, Level 1. I definitely fangirled when they commented and liked this on Instagram.

what’s next?
With the goal of continuing to produce content this summer, the main focus is the coming Winter 2024/2025 season. Preparing content ideas, learning new editing techniques in After Effects and Premiere Pro, connecting with even more photographers and videographers, designing a highly requested merch line, hyping up the brand to the new incoming seasonal locals… there’s a lot to do. And it’s so exciting.
